Meet The Admiral: The Flagship of the Fleet
Model: Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin (Digital Blue)
If you want a bike that treats a 500km day across Shikoku like a casual stroll to the fridge for a cold one, meet The Admiral. He’s the heavyweight champion of our garage. While the CB400Xs are busy being "sensible" and "polite," The Admiral is out here trying to see if he can flatten the Mt. Tsurugi mountain range by sheer force of will.
The "High-Altitude" Command Center
The UFO Line sits at 1,700 meters, and on a windy day, it can feel like the deck of an aircraft carrier in a typhoon.
The Admiral's Experience: This is where his rank matters. While the smaller bikes are leaning into the gale like they’re in a hurricane, The Admiral just slices through the air. He’s heavy enough to stay planted but agile enough to carve the ridgeline. You sit so high up that you can actually see what the weather is doing in Kochi before you even get there.
The "Cargo Carrier" of the Iya Valley
Thinking of bringing a passenger, a tent, a portable BBQ, and three spare changes of clothes?
The Admiral's Experience: He has more "storage" than a suburban garage. While the others are debating if they have room for a spare pair of socks, The Admiral is already loaded with three hard cases and a pillion rider, wondering why we haven't left yet. He doesn’t "climb" hills; he just deletes them.
Suspension Like a Waterbed
Southern Japan is famous for Rindo (forest roads) that haven’t been paved since the Meiji era.
The Admiral's Experience: With a 21-inch front wheel and suspension travel that could swallow a small pothole whole, he makes the roughest goat tracks feel like a freshly vacuumed carpet. If you accidentally hit a bump on a bridge over the Shimanto River, you won't feel it—but the bridge might.
The "Ghibli" Giant
Rolling into a quiet, 400-year-old village like Fukiya on The Admiral is a cinematic experience.
The Admiral's Experience: He’s huge, but he’s a "Gentle Giant." Thanks to Honda’s refined engineering, he’s actually easier to ride at low speeds than some 600cc bikes. He’s got the torque to chug along at walking pace while you wave at local farmers, looking like an explorer who just finished a trans-continental crossing (even if you only came from the local 7-Eleven).
Why Choose The Admiral?
The Admiral is for the rider who wants it all. He’s for the traveler who refuses to choose between highway comfort and "go-anywhere" grit. He’s bulletproof, imposing, and has enough presence to make a parked Harley look like a toy.
The Pacific coast is calling, the mountains are waiting, and The Admiral is ready to deploy. Are you ready to take the helm?
